Emerson Enhances Daniel® Ultrasonic Gas Flow
Meters with new, Innovative Options for Custody Transfer Measurement
New options improve ability to manage measurement uncertainty in custody
transfers
HOUSTON, TEXAS (November 30, 2004) --Emerson Process Management has
announced new options for the Daniel® SeniorSonic™ and JuniorSonic™
ultrasonic flow Meters that increase flexibility, reliability, and access to
data in high-stakes custody transfer measurement applications.
“Our customers have told us that continuous, reliable, and accurate
fiscal measurement is critically important to their business,” said John
Lansing, Manager of Gas Ultrasonics of the Daniel division of Emerson
Process Management. “We remain focused on serving these important market
needs and are working hard to continually improve ultrasonic flow
measurement technology by providing new options for the Mark III™
Electronics.”
These new product options include:
- The Series 100 Options Board that adds new measurement functionality
to Mark III Electronics
The scalable Mark III Electronics, Daniel’s completely re-engineered
electronics platform, was designed to easily accept future functionality
such as the Series 100 Options Board. This board includes two analog inputs
for live pressure and temperature measurement; one analog output for
corrected volume and energy flow rate; one serial port to obtain live gas
composition from the Daniel Gas Chromatograph.
- Acquiring live gas composition data from a Gas Chromatograph (GC)
Daniel has established an industry first by providing redundant flow
computer functionality. By computing energy rate with live gas composition,
the SeniorSonic and JuniorSonic Flow Meters provide valuable redundancy in
critical fiscal custody applications.
- Real-time AGA 10-calculated Speed of Sound (SOS) calculation minimizes
measurement uncertainty
Measurement uncertainty is minimized by comparing AGA 10 SOS calculations
with the meter-calculated SOS. Significant differences in SOS can indicate
possible upstream process upsets and can validate the integrity of the flow
meter, gas analysis and analog measurements.
- Archive logging provides historical measurement to verify meter
integrity
The financial value of natural gas measured by flow meters makes
historical measurement information very valuable. Verifying meter integrity
has never been more important. Daniel Archive Data Logs are easy to use and
help validate measurement integrity by providing:
- 100 days of hourly measurement data
- 365 days of daily measurement data
- 3,000 audit log records
- 3,000 alarm log records
- Automated download of data to Microsoft Excel® using Daniel CUI
Deluxe software
- Ethernet connectivity enables data access anywhere
Secure access of key measurement data by multiple, simultaneous users
quickly and easily via the Internet from anywhere in the world saves time
and money. With this valuable option, speed of data transfer is completed
100 times faster than conventional serial data connections.
